XM CANADA WELCOMES CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK TO TORONTO

Toronto, ON., March 10, 2010 – XM Canada (TSX:XSR), the country’s leading provider of audio entertainment and information services, is bringing Canadian talent from the sound stage to the satellite waves during Canadian Music Week.

Starting on Thursday, March 11, XM Canada listeners can tune into The Verge (channel 87 on XM) to listen to exclusive interviews and intimate performances by sixteen artists including Hot Hot Heat, Jay Sparrow, Hannah Georges and Dan Mangan (2009 The Verge Music Award Artist of the Year). The performances and interviews will be broadcast from The Verge’s King Street West studios in Toronto.

“XM Canada and The Verge are dedicated to featuring up-and-coming Canadian artists,” said Jeff Leake, Music Programming Director of XM Canada. “Showcasing home-grown talent by providing musicians with a North American platform is important for the Canadian indie scene and XM is happy to be able to share these gifted artists with our listeners.”

"Three years after I sent my record to The Verge, I won The Verge Music Award for Artist of the Year," said Dan Mangan. "The added exposure and cash prize of $25,000 helped me experience the most incredible year I could have imagined. I have no second guess or hesitations to suggest that The Verge has been a huge door-opener in my career. I owe them many thanks".

The incredible display of talent will continue on Saturday, March 13 when The Verge broadcasts live-to-air at the Canadian Music Week Indie Awards from the Fairmont Royal York. Performers include Plants and Animals, Great Lake Swimmers, The Rural Alberta Advantage and Constantines. The broadcast starts at 7 p.m. with the awards ceremony beginning at 8 p.m.
